Career Studies Certificate in Corrections I

Length:

This career studies certificate is a one semester certificate.

Purpose:

This career studies certificate is designed as a stackable credential that introduces students to the field of Corrections.  This program is the first semester for correctional staff to possess a working knowledge of the corrections field and an understanding of the skills used to manage, treat, and counsel inmates.

Occupational Objectives:

The occupational objectives are to provide a basic foundation in this field that does not require a degree or individuals who wish to increase their knowledge and/or skill.  Courses in this program can be used as stackable credentials.

Admission Requirements:

Admission to the Career Studies Certificate program is based upon the general requirements for admission to the college.

Suggested Credits for this Semester: 17


*Students may take an alternative HLT/PE credit in place of ADJ 138 Defensive Tactics or PED 129 Self Defense for Women

Total Minimum Credits Required for this Certificate: 17
