Length:
This career studies certificate is a one semester certificate.
Purpose:
This certificate is designed to provide students with a foundation in Cybersecurity studies related to computer system administration, ethical hacking, penetration testing, and security design using firewall technologies. The career studies certificate also facilitates the transition into the computer science, electronics or IST associate degree programs, if the student chooses to continue their studies at the College.
Occupational Objectives:
Potential job titles and categories include (and are not limited to) the following:
- Red Team Member – Participate in real-world cyberattack simulations.
- Bug Bounty Hunter – Freelance hackers find defects and exploits in code.
- Ethical / White Hat Hacker – Perform lawful security testing and evaluation.
- Threat Hunter – Search networks to detect and isolate advanced threats.
- Vulnerability Assessor – Find exploits in systems and applications.
- Penetration Tester (Pen-Tester) – Perform authorized and simulated cyberattacks.
- Information Assurance Analyst – Identify risks to information systems.
- Information Security Analyst – Plan and carry out infosecurity measures.
- Network Security Administrator – Secure networks from internal and external threats.
Admission Requirements:
Admission to the Career Studies Certificate program is based upon the general requirements for admission to the college.
Program Pre-requisites: ITN 101, ITN 260, ITP 100 or the equivalent
