Career Studies Certificate Incident Response and Digital Forensics

Length:

This career studies certificate is a one semester certificate.

Purpose:

Digital forensics and incident response is an important part of business and law enforcement operations. It is a philosophy supported by today’s advanced technology to offer a comprehensive solution for IT security professionals who seek to provide fully secure coverage of a corporation’s internal systems.  The goal of incident response is to help companies and individuals understand how a breach took place so that they can better secure their networks and devices in the future.

Occupational Objectives:

Potential job titles and categories include (and are not limited to) the following:

  • Blue Team Member – Design defensive measures / harden operating systems.
  • Cybercrime Investigator – Solve crimes conducted in cyberspace.
  • Digital Forensics Analyst – Examine data containing evidence of cybercrimes.
  • Incident Responder – First response to cyber intrusions and data breaches.
  • Virus Technician – Detect and remediate computer viruses and malware.
  • Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst – Coordinate and report on cyber incidents.

Admission Requirements:

Admission to the Career Studies Certificate program is based upon the general requirements for admission to the college.

Program Pre-requisites:  ITN 101; ITN 260; ITP 100 or the equivalent.
