Degree: Associate of Science in Engineering

Length: Four-semester (two-year) program

Purpose: The Associate of Sciences in Science with a Major in Engineering is a statewide common curriculum designed primarily for students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

Transfer Virginia: This program is aligned with the Transfer Virginia Engineering common curriculum. Students are strongly encouraged to consult their academic advisor and review program options using the Transfer Virginia Portal, https://www.transfervirginia.org

Program Requirements: All students will be required to demonstrate college readiness through transcript review or informed self-placement. Based on this review, students may request or be required to enroll in prerequisite or co-requisite math and/or English courses.

Students are encouraged to become acquainted with the requirements of the college or university to which she or he is considering for transfer and to regularly consult with his/her community college advisor in planning their program and selecting electives. Students should successfully complete all community college courses meeting the grade requirement of “C.”

1 Humanities Electives - ART 101 , CST 151 , HUM 201 , MUS 121 , PHI 100 , PHI 220 , REL 230 , PHI 220  preferred, HUM electives should be from different clusters

   Cluster 1: ART 101, CST 151, MUS 121

   Cluster 2: HUM 201, PHI 100, PHI 220, REL 230

   Cluster 3: ENG 245, ENG 246

2 English Elective - ENG 113  preferred or ENG 112  

3 Social Science Electives - ECO 201 , ECO 202 , GEO 210 , PLS 135 , PSY 200 , PSY 215 , PSY 216 , PSY 230 , SOC 200  or ECO 202  are the required Social Science for some programs

4 History Electives - HIS 101 , HIS 102 , HIS 121 , HIS 122  

5 EGR Electives - depending on Engineering field of interest, students may elect EGR 245 , EGR 246 , EGR 271   or other approved EGR course or CSC course
