Degree: Career Studies Certificate Welding I

Length: This career studies certificate is a one semester certificate.

Purpose: This curriculum is designed for individuals wishing to obtain fundamental skills for immediate entry-level positions in the welding trade as welding apprentices or welding laboratory assistants.

Occupational Objectives: The welding certificate program provides a firm foundation of skills on which students will be able to build their career.

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Career Studies Certificate program is based upon the general requirements for admission to the college.

First Semester

SAF 127 Industrial Safety 2 credits ²
WEL 150 Welding Drawing and Interpretation 3 credits
WEL 100 Fundamentals of Welding 3 credits ¹
WEL 164 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) 3 credits
WEL 123 Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Basic) 3 credits
WEL 160 Gas Metal Arc Welding 3 credits
